Zentralinstitut für Ernährungs- und Lebensmittelforschung
The ZIEL Institute for Food & Health of the Technische Universität München (TUM) brings together the expertise in research on food, nutrition and health with numerous joint research activities and various outreach activities to serve a wide range of stakeholders. ZIEL thus represents a network of academic competence that is in its portfolio and structure unique within Germany.
In accordance with its guiding principle of »food and nutritional science for the good of the individual and of society« ZIEL has merged the disciplines of food science with those of nutritional science and complemented them with the new units of Nutritional Medicine and Food Biofunctionality. The Center’s work looks at the food chain as a whole, from the generation of raw materials to the handling and processing of foodstuffs, and beyond to human physiology and pathophysiology.
